Salada posts stronger half-year profit as sales recover after Hurricane Melissa

Half-year revenue rose 9.2% and net profit 12.8% as demand strengthened locally and in export markets following Hurricane Melissa.

Salada Foods Jamaica Limited reported stronger half-year revenue and profit as sales recovered after Hurricane Melissa and demand strengthened across local and export markets.

Gross revenue for the six months ended 31 March 2026 reached J$838.8 million, up 9.2% from J$767.9 million a year earlier. The March quarter was especially strong, with revenue up 29.4% to J$478.4 million.

Chairman Patrick Williams said the performance reflected steady consumer demand as the company rebuilt momentum following hurricane-related disruptions.

Operating profit for the half year rose 19.2% to J$127.7 million, with quarterly operating profit more than doubling to J$88.2 million. Net profit increased 12.8% to J$100.2 million, and earnings per share improved to J$0.10 from J$0.09. Total assets stood at J$1.53 billion.

Gross margin edged up to 31.1%, helped by tighter cost management. Administrative expenses fell to 10.4% of revenue from 11.6%, while selling and promotional spend stayed stable at 5.5% of revenue.

Beyond the numbers, Salada continued supporting employees and farming communities affected by Hurricane Melissa through corporate social responsibility initiatives tied to relief and recovery.
